.
The first thing that must be emphasized is that this vitamin is fat-soluble and, therefore, to be assimilated requires the presence of fat. Although there are 5 types, our body prefers vitamin D2 and vitamin D3. The first is of vegetable origin and, therefore, can only be taken by eating foods that contain it, while the second is naturally present in mammals. Specifically, vitamin D3 is produced by the skin when it comes into contact with the sun.

Let’s get to the point and analyze the relationship between vitamin D and hair. We pointed out that vitamin D3 is produced by our skin and, therefore, the receptor is also found in hair follicles. Specifically, studies have highlighted the role of this vitamin in triggering the active phase of the hair life cycle (anagen). It has also been noted that in cases of androgenetic alopocia there is often a deficiency of vitamin D and it is for this reason that it is also important for the health of the hair that this is present in our body.

Finally, it is possible to report what are the results of some very important studies, which highlight the role of vitamin D in hair growth.

What are the foods that contain this substance? Liver, salmon, sardines, egg yolk, milk, fatty cheese are just a few of those that contain it and should therefore be eaten to get the right amount of vitamin D.

You can, however, also take food supplements based on vitamin D, to increase the level. Vitamin D values can be monitored by analysis. We speak of deficiency when there are values below 20 ng per milliliter of blood.

As noted, it is very important that our body has at its disposal the right amount of vitamin D, in order to avoid even serious consequences that affect not only our hair, but also our entire body, which would be seriously debilitated.
