WHAT ARE THE MAIN HAIR LOSS CAUSES?
Hair loss can be caused by several factors. The most common one is androgenic alopecia, caused by androgenic hormones and genetic factors.
WHAT ARE THE MAIN THERAPIES TO TREAT HAIR LOSS?
There are several therapies and the choice depends on the cause of alopecia.
The main ones in case of Androgenic Alopecia are:
- Finasteride, systemic drug that inhibits the action of 5-alpha reductase.
- Minoxidil, topical vasodilative solution, whose action focuses on miniaturized hair follicles by improving vascularization.
Besides these common therapies, it is also possible to create customized galenical lotions according to the patient’s needs.
The collaboration between a Trichologist and a Pharmacist plays a fundamental role for the creation of effective topical products.
WHO IS THE BEST CANDIDATE FOR A HAIR TRANSPLANT?
Any patient suffering from hair loss can undergo the procedure, whether the condition is at its early or most advanced stages. It is important to take into account the age of the patient and the stability of the condition.
DOES A HAIR TRANSPLANT SOLVE MY HAIR LOSS PROBLEM FOREVER?
A well-planned and customized hair transplant can solve the patient’s hair loss problem forever.
Of course we always have to remember that, despite the hair transplant, non-transplanted hair can go on falling. That is why the surgeon has to carefully select the patient. In the same way, patients have to take care of their hair with local and/or systemic therapies even after the procedure.
WHAT’S THE BEST AGE TO UNDERGO A HAIR TRANSPLANT?
As a general rule, it is essential to be very cautious with young patients (˂28-30 years old) since their hair loss is likely to evolve.
WHAT ARE THE ALTERNATIVE SOLUTIONS FOR THOSE WHO CAN’T OR DON’T WANT TO UNDERGO A HAIR TRANSPLANT?
Luckily, huge steps have been taken in this field over the last years. Here are the options: common medical therapies that help stabilize hair loss, paramedical solutions such as Tricopigmentation, high-quality hair replacement systems, PRP and stem cells.
WHAT IS PRP?
Platelet-Rich Plasma, often referred to as PRP, is a concentrated source of autologous conditioned platelets in a small blood volume.
It is an easy method that involves the use of a certain amount of peripheral venous blood (the quantity depends on the device you choose) that is centrifuged in order to obtain its different components.
Platelets contain alpha-granules in which we find the main growth factors. These are able to stimulate bulb stem cells.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE DAYS FOLLOWING THE HAIR TRANSPLANT?
The patient will notice some small scabs both in the donor and in the recipient area. Within 7-10 days they will gradually disappear, thanks to the help of delicate shampoos.
WILL I BE ABLE TO GO OUT IN PUBLIC AFTER THE HAIR TRANSPLANT?
Recovery times are very fast. Within 7-10 days the small scabs will fall. Right after the procedure it is possible to wear a hat in order to hide the scabs during the first days.
IS IT POSSIBLE TO UNDERGO A HAIR TRANSPLANT WITH LONG HAIR?
Almost nobody in the world can carry out FUE hair transplants with long hair. This procedure is much longer and difficult than shaven FUE. Thanks to Dr. Cole’s teachings I was able to learn this technique that allows patients to immediately go back to their social and working life.
IS IT POSSIBLE TO TREAT A VISIBLE STRIP (FUT) SCAR?
Unfortunately more and more patients need our help to repair disastrous Strip (FUT) scars.
Luckily, thanks to FUE technique, it is possible to fix bad scars obtaining great results.
