FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) is an advanced harvesting technique. Individual follicular units are extracted directly from the donor area, the only area where androgenic hormones don’t attack follicles. The harvesting process is carried out using small circular punches, with different dimensions. Each and every patient presents different anatomical features, according to which the dimension of the punch will be chosen. In order to obtain a great result the procedure has to be customized.
The punches we use are produced by Dr. Cole’s company (ColeInstruments®). They are the only ones in the world made of Steel 400 and present a very sharp cutting edge. This allows us to obtain clear cuts so that the surrounding tissue and hair follicles are not damaged.
FUE can be both manual and motorized.
In the manual technique it is the technician who rotates the punch.
On the other hand, in the motorized technique, the punch will automatically rotate according to the chosen speed.
Both techniques are safe and valuable, provided that the surgeon has a good experience in FUE and the quality of the chosen tool is high.
The choice between the two harvesting techniques always depends on the skin characteristics and on the quality of the follicular units.
Once the single hair follicles are selected, they are extracted individually using specific tools that will protect the grafts from any trauma or damage.
It is essential to use magnifying glasses to carry out this procedure in the most precise way possible.

Advantages of the FUE technique:
- Virtual invisible scars compared to the long Strip scar
- Less downtime
- No necessity for general anaesthesia
- Possibility to choose the best follicular units from the donor area
- Body hair transplant (beard, chest, pubis, etc.)
- Ideal for small sessions
