The same vitamin A can be taken through dietary supplements, such as betacarotene. Before taking dietary supplements is always recommended, however, asking the opinion of a medical expert, useful in preventing possible contraindications.

B vitamins and hair

B vitamins are the most suitable for maintaining healthy hair and scalp. The best known are B1, B2, B3, B5 and B12, all part of the water-soluble vitamin group.

These vitamins ensure the well-being of the hair in a slightly different way. In fact, B1, or thiamine, is essential in the metabolization of carbohydrates, and therefore to give energy to the scalp and hair; B2, or riboflavin, ensures the shine to the hair and prevents the formation of split ends; B3, also known as niacin, promotes the hair growth; B5, or pantenoic acid, ensures the correct nutritional supply to the hair bulbs and B12, or cyanocobalamin, allows the oxygenation of the hair properly.

Hair and vitamin C

Vitamin C also plays an important role, especially in what concerns the fight against aging. In this area Vitamin C fights the release of free radicals and optimizes blood circulation.

The main foods containing high concentrations of vitamin C are citrus fruits, kiwistrawberries, fresh vegetables such as spinach and radicchio and also vegetables such as tomatoes and peppers.

Vitamin H and hair

Biotin, or vitamin H, is another type of vitamin essential to hair. Also known by the acronym B8, vitamin H promotes the natural growth of hair, keeping it healthy and ensuring its robustness.

In order to get vitamin H, it is recommended to eat liver, eggswhole foodslattuce and mushrooms.
